Development "Time-Out", New General Plan in Calaveras County supported by Citizen Groups: LTA Joins Effort

More than 250 citizens and business leaders from throughout Calaveras County jammed the Chambers of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors on January 23rd to present strong arguments for a time out or moratorium on any new development projects in Calaveras County until a new county-wide general plan is developed and approved.

Lake Tulloch Alliance Co-Chair Connie Williams along with scores of Lake Tulloch Basin residents took part in the meeting in San Andreas. The LTA presented a detailed power point presentation demonstrating the need for a halt in any new building or permit in the area pending approval of a new county wide general plan. Even the proposed Copperopolis Community Plan would allow for a community eight times the size of Sonora.

The LTA has joined with many other citizen and business organizations to push for sensible planning for the county and to support efforts to end development that is detroying our natural resources and rural environment.
